Elegance meets Old World charm
Georgetown, about a mile south of our hotel, evolved out of an 18th-century port town; these days, the historic neighborhood serves as one of the capital’s best-loved hangouts — and one you won’t want to miss. The area dazzles in any season, proving an ideal place to wander charming, cobblestoned residential streets, to channel one’s inner fashionista at 400+ trendy boutiques, or to unwind with an alfresco meal on the edge of the Potomac River at Washington Harbour. On a sunny day, head down to the harbor for patio eats, boardwalk strolls, or a Potomac boat tour.
For an alternative itinerary, after strolling the verdant campus of Georgetown University and the C&O Canal, savor the flavors of the city at delicious restaurants ranging from storied fine dining establishments (1789) to newer hotspots (Farmers Fishers Bakers). To get your arts and culture fix, pop into Georgetown’s many galleries, hear music at longtime institution Blues Alley, or catch an evening show at the nearby Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
